2024 Roadway Preventative Maintenance

Project Completed — Progress as Promised

Project Description

The Street Maintenance Program is designed to increase the longevity of the City’s roadways. The City utilizes a variety of methods including crack sealing, micro surfacing, and roadway overlay.

Crack Repair Project: Crack sealing is the process of placing an adhesive sealant into cracks on the pavement’s surface, preventing the infiltration of moisture and non-compressible materials into the pavement. This is one of the first methods of street maintenance.

Microsurfacing: This method utilizes a mixture of polymer-modified emulsified asphalt, mineral aggregate, mineral filler, water, and other additives which is uniformly applied over the entire roadway surface.

Mill and Overlay: A traditional overlay grinds a portion of the existing surface, patching any surface issues before overlaying the area with a two or three inch layer of new asphalt or concrete.
